Recently, evaluation results of the 2021 China and Africa Video Competition, jointly sponsored by the Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Chinese Foreign Languages Bureau, and hosted by Beijing Weekly Newspaper, has been announced. Tangible Cloth and Intangilbe Love submitted by our institute was shortlisted and awarded the Friendship Award.
The China and Africa video contest has been held for two consecutive sessions. 2021 marks the 65th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between PRC and African countries. The competition actively collects short videos, micro videos and pictures from Chinese and African people and institutions. The promotion of the competition covered more than 40 African countries, and total page views of the event topic page exceeded 31 million. With enthusiastic participations of friends from China and African countries, there are more than 2,500 effective works. After preliminary evaluation, 90 of them were shortlisted for online voting and final evaluation, and the number of votes of shortlisted entries in official website and CCTV totaled nearly 700,000. In the expert review session, 11 experts from China, South Africa, Senegal, Kenya, Egypt and other countries scored shortlisted works according to five criteria: subject matter, technology, creativity, art and sound effects.
